Two attractive neighbouring villages located between Hawkshead and Windermere across which the car ferry runs from Far Sawrey to Bowness. The two villages are famous for their association with Beatrix Potter who wrote many of her famous children’s stories in Hill Top, a 17th century farmhouse located in Near Sawrey.
